Immersed in blues
At one moment on his new album, bluesman Rick Moore admits he's "talking that trash." A few songs later he's testifying that he "went down to Memphis, I did not mean to stay too long, felt the power of the ol' big muddy, I could not leave it alone." So, which is the truth? Go with the latter. Moore's album, Slow Burnin' Fire, proves he's not talking trash - he's immersed in the big, muddy grip of the blues. Featuring the Mr. Lucky Band with guitarist Jimmy Nalls (who's played with Seal Level, Dr. John and the Nighthawks), the album includes the butt-boogie tune House our Love Is Working Overtime, the drowsy, mean-woman blues of Let Me Down Easy, and the Delta blues of Muddy Water Fever. |
